Tough road ahead |
| The Broncos have had a big let down to the begining of this season with a 2-4 record coming into week 8 and the halfway point of the season. The Broncos have 4 losses by 7 points or less and the last 2 to division rivals. With the loss of Brady by the Chargers and the sophmore slump by McCoy you think the Rivers lead Broncos have the best chance in the division but the O is the problem with the lack of production from the running backs and the lack of big plays from newly accuired Santonio Holmes. The O has to get moving for this team to have any success. The D has held teams to under 17 points per game and only 210 yards passing. This is the D GM Seth Johnson hoped for. Strong against the pass in a division that started with Tom Brady, Colt McCoy and Joe Flacco. Build to stop the pass and don't get beat up by the run. The D ranks 22 against the run and 15th against the pass. 20th in over all D yards against yet 7th in points against the most important of the stats having a good year so far. The O needs someone to pick up the scoring. 28th in scoring and 10th in passing yards but 29th in rushing wont win to many games. The Broncos hope Maroney can jump start the running game against the Browns as he gets the start. With winable games coming up the Broncos now hope for a wild card birth with a 9-6 record but need to string some wins together and get the season back on track. |

Broncos week 1 Matchup |
| The Bronco's who finished 8-8 in the tough AFC West face the NY Giants who finished 8-8 in the tough NFC East. Both teams hope to improve on their 2010 season and this game will go a long way to showing what these teams are made of. The Bronco's will see a fimilar face in the Giants defensive backfield in FS Michael Huff. The Bronco's who had a spuddering offense last season will have a full season with Phillip Rivers at QB and added in the offseason star WR Santonio Holmes. Holmes with Williamson and Shipley will have to play well and get touchdowns this season if they hope to compete. Against the giants the threesome with TE Tony Scheffler go up against Huff and Phillips at Saftey and a very solid CB crew lead by Aaron Ross. The Broncos look to Pass more than run but have 3 yuong running backs in Best, Moreno and Maroney. A young O-Line will have to control the line of scrimmage against DT Roy Miller and DE Justin Tuck if they hope to be successful. The Gianst O needs a big game from RB Brandon Jacobs if they hope to ware down the Bronco's D. The young NY Offense needs Big plays from WR NIcks and new addition at TE Jake O'Connell brought in to be a passing target for Manning. The Broncos hope the move of ROLB Jason Worilds into the starting line up will have positive results after trading away Robert Ayers to the Patriots. Dunlap and rookie Fletcher take on the huge shoes of Travis Laboy and will try to maintain the sack total from last year. The Gaints will run and Bronco's will pass and we'll see who cn come out the winner in a tight contest which I predict to be settled by a last minutes FG. Broncos by 2 23-21 |

Broncos draft board in order |
The Broncos have set their draft board to fill positions of need. With free agency taking its toll on the Broncos the team still looks like it can compete well. With the major needs at Center, DE and Punter the Broncos hope to get a productive WR in the slot position in the 3rd round. The team had big losses due to cap space in
LE Travis Laboy Cut for cap
TE Daniel Graham Cut for cap
C Casey Wiegmann Let go to free agency
ROLB Robert Ayers via trade
RB Laurence Maroney a big trade for a 1st rounder and had to let him go as he under preformed and wanted big money.
With picks at 1.22, 2.10, 3.11 and 3.17 the team looks to fill need and get role players in picks 4.17, 4.23 and 5.23.
Now with cap space and a good core roster the Broncos seem poised to compete with the Raiders and Chargers for the division title. |
