Browns come close again....... |
The Cleveland Browns came inches away from there first win of the season but losing to the Chiefs in overtime 27-24. Even though the Browns have yet to register a win, they have played hard and have shown what kind of talent is within the roster.
Do you think teams were surprised with how close the scoring has been
"I believe teams are coming into these games thinking this is an easy win for us. I think teams are starting to see we play hard and if they let their guards down they may be in for an upset by the Browns"
You are 0-3 this time last year the Browns had at least 1 win. Does that concern you?
"Not at all. The goal is to win games no one will dispute that, the ultimate goal is to win championships. In order to do that changes have to be made, you have to make something work that did not work before. This is what we are doing, making changes and adjustments in till we get the proper fit. At 0-3 as you can see we are still trying to find our fit."
It was just announced you traded DT Shaun Rogers to the Detroit Lions for a 2nd round pick
"Yes we did. The trade I think worked out best for both teams. Shaun played and well and hard for this team he brought leadership. In the end however we have some injury issues to address and needed to make a big move on the cap side of things to give us breathing room." |

Browns Fall Short Against Chargers |
The Cleveland Browns come up short in their season opener against the San Diego Chargers with the final score being Browns 14 and the Chargers 20.
"The players played a good game out there, however the Chargers just played a better game. I like what I saw out there on the field of course we have a few areas we need to work on, but I feel confident that we are heading in the right direction" Browns GM Carmen stated to the media after the game.
QB Derek Anderson played a impressing game going 12 for 20 with 176 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT and came away with 101.3 rating for the night.
HB James Davis was injured early on and reports say he could be out for up to 10 weeks.
WR Mohamed Massaquoi also came away with a good night. He had 4 rec for 85 yards and 1 TD. WR Donte Stallworth also had 1 TD for the night.
Browns Defense wasn't to shabby they didn't give up any real big plays but they also didn't force to much pressure to the Chargers Offense. |

Browns make first round of cuts |
In a move to get within the cap and to open cap space to sign some FA the Browns GM handed out a round of cuts. The following players who were released earlier today include:
LE Kenyon Coleman
RT John St.Clair
The following players are rumored to be cut by the end of the day:
QB Brian St. Pierre
HB Jerome Harrison
When asked about the reason behind the cuts Browns GM stated "It was a mix of things, we had to make room under the cap for the season, with a team that is rebuilding it unfortunate we have to focus on the younger pieces. In the case of LE Kenyon Coleman, RT John St. Clair we feel that we have of solid young talent that we feel need to get in there and take hold of the position." "QB Brian St.Pierre and HB Jerome Harrison was basically after a close look at the position we felt it was crowded and in our efforts to trim the cap we felt it was in our best interest to part ways with both players". |

New GM for the Browns |
Yesterday it was announced that the Cleveland Brown Hired Carmen Rodriguez as their new GM. Carmen is handed the daunting task to turn the Browns organization around. The Browns finished with a 4-12 record last season placing them close to the bottom in the AFC. After a less than stellar draft Cleveland Browns Owner felt it was time to make a change and is Hoping newly appointed GM Rodriguez will be the change needed to turn this team around. After the announcement Carmen answered a few questions for us.
After a 4-12 season and poor draft what changes are you looking to make going into the new season?
Well my first priority is getting to know the coaches and players. I can not make any define changes in till I know what this team has. In the upcoming days I will be assessing the team and going from there.
Some may say you didn't exactly address needs in the draft. What is your feeling on the draft?
I unfortunately was not here for the draft. What's done is done and we can't really change the past. We will have to move on and try to get the pieces to fit to the best possible.
Do you think the Browns have a chance to make to the playoffs this season?
Ultimately the goal is to reach the playoffs. We are in a tough division so the road will not come easily. However we are thinking one game at a time. When you rebuild the most important aspect is making sure the foundation is solid and all the pieces fit and work together to achieve success. |
