Falcons Clinch Division
Falcons Clinch Division

Falcons have clinched there division for the second season in a row, and once again Tedd Ginn has found a way to miss post-season. Tedd Ginn, being a big part of our passing offense brings another season of being crippled in the off season, the Falcons coaches had brighter things to say however.

Matt Ryan - 213/391 - 54.48% - 2966 YDs -24/11 TD/INT -87.8 QB Rating

"We have been very lucky in terms of the health of our players. Only one player is on our injury list, and although we will miss Ted Ginn and his deep threat, there are more important players on our field, and we'd feel there injuries a lot more."

HB Michael Turner - 342 Attempts - 1774 YDs - 5.19 YPC - 10 TDs - 1 FUM

Tedd Ginn's Injury puts Jenkins into a starting WR role for the second time in the Falcons post season. Last season he put up 3 catches for 50 yards in their wild card loss to the Packers; we hope he does a little more to help lead this team to victory.

WR Roddy White - 51 Receptions - 911 YDs - 9 TDs - 5 Drops

This season in the division was a struggle to remain at the top of the division. Although the Falcons started off great, going 6-0 and then 8-1, the Bucs stayed right behind for most of the season, letting the Falcons know that if they falter, they lose there division. The Buccaneers however suffered the same fate as other teams this season, and got a few key players hurt in the last couple games, meaning a few losses that have now allowed the Falcons to clinch there division.

ROLB Mike Peterson - 89 Tackles - 18 TFL - 1 Sack - 1 FF/FR - 1 INT

With a win against the Bucs this week, and a Bears loss, the Falcons may even be able to get through the Playoffs with a help of a bye week, but we aren't holding our breath waiting for a Packers victory over the tough Bears team.

FS Thomas DeCoud - 74 Tackles - 3 TFL - 1 FR - 3 INTs

Falcons Clinch NFC South
In one of the closest mid season division races in awhile, the Falcons, Buccaneers and Saints were all tied at 6-6 just three weeks ago.

The first match up for the Falcons and Saints were against each other in this three way tie. This game ended 33-9 Falcons. A lose that would be followed by another loss for the Saints in the following week and a winning streak that would take the Falcons to the game clinching game this week, a 23-12 Win against the Bills.

The most unfortunate news for the Saints is that Drew Brees is returning from an injury in another week or two, but in his absence can only hope for a 8-8 record after next game, not enough for a wildcard entrance. Without his injury, the Saints were the division favorite, and had a great chance of going all the way.

Falcons current sit at 9-6 with a miserable 1-4 record in the division. Some of their key wins against the Bears, Cowboys, Dolphins, Eagles and Jets have them with a much better record than there division performance would indicate.

Next week, the Falcons face the Buccaneers, a game they do not need to win to see the playoffs. After there loss against them earlier in the season, the Falcons coaches will do everything in their power to win this game to convince their players that deserve to be in the playoffs, and they can go all the way, as long as they can believe it.
