Saints Win 1 |
After a tough loss against the Bucs 28-27 and a heartbreaking 4QT loss against the Lions 33-30, the Saints finally hit the W column... It was a complete win as the visiting Saints controlled the ball 28 minutes and outgained the Panthers 400 yds to 250 yds.
Brees had almost a perfect game and CB Malcom Jenkins had his second monster game of the season with 5Ta, 2 int, 3 Pass broken up.
Here come the Bye week before a streak of 5 away games.... which will make 6 str8 games out of state.... what in the world the AAO scheduling comitee was thinking ???? |

Saints day 2 |
3.14. Chris Chancellor CB - Clemson
Chancellor is an athletic corner who possesses impressive speed, quickness and agility. He was a productive performer in college. He might need time to develop but u never have enough CB in this league.
4.14. Armanti Edwards QB - Appalachian State
Edwards is a four-year starter that led his team to two national titles as well as a playoff run in the other two seasons. He is a proven winner. Sure he is undersized as a quarterback but he has good arms strenght, good accuracy and intangibles to make a good backup.
5.14. Joe Tronzo FB - Louisville
Tronzo has good size and excellent blocking skills for a fullback. Tronzo proved in college to be capable of contributing on special teams and was regarded as one of Louisville's toughest and most physical players.
6.14 Marlon Winn LT - Texas Tech
7.14 Andre Sexton SS - Oklahoma state
Andre is a physical presence and a solid tackler. He played SS and LB for the Cowboys. Marlin Winn is strictly a pass protector at this point. He played 4 years for a pass happy offense.

Saints first day |
Considering a few mock Drafts, Saints GM could not beleive the player they were targeting with their 1st round was still around at #14. Entering the draft, the Sainst front office was rumored considering trading up to get their guy...
1.14. AL WOODS DT - LSU
“He’s a big body. He’s someone that showed athleticism. I liked the kid a lot in our visits. He’s someone that we felt was continuing to get better. There’s a lot in front of him. I like his size and athleticism. I like his makeup that way. We’re pretty familiar with the player, he comes from Louisiana.”
With the second pick, the Saints did not had to look elsewhere than the LSU campus... In need of young speedy and tall CB the Saints pick Al Woods teammate, Chris Hawkins.
2.14. CHRIS HAWKINS CB - LSU
"He is fundamentally sound, for sure he can tackle, he has good size, good speed and he has the experience to make a decent impact in the NFL right away." |

Saints beat the Raiders |
The win was important after a tough loss last week against the Panthers. The Saints needed to regroup and keep their chances for a playoff spot alive, before facing the Bucs in Tampa next week. That latest game is meaningfull as a Saints win will be a big leap over conf rivals...
The Saints relied heavily on Reggie Bush as he rushed for 133yds on 36 att, a huge number for what is considered a small back. Brandon LaFell assured himself as a solid complement to Colston. After catching 12 pass last week and a TD, the rookie wideout held on 3 for 87 yds and 1 TD.
For once, the D was agressive against the pass, limiting McCoy to 142 yds and 43% comp. Sacking the rookie 5 times and forcing 2 int. Will Smith had a breakout game with 3 sakcs, 1 FF and 1 FR !!! The only negative was the run D as McFadden torched the Saints for 140 yds.
Bring on the BUCS !! |

Saints rookie review A- |
1st Round FS Mays is holding his ground, he is the number #2 Saints tackler with 32 Ta & #4 rookie overall in that category. He has only 1 int so far but 6 deflect.
2nd Round pick LT Campbell has a 18 PC/SCK RATIO wich ranked him as the 2nd OL overall in that category.
3rd Round WR LaFell is doing ok but hasn't start every game as the competition is tough at WR in NO. Still 12 Rec and 194 ranks him in the tops 15 at his position for a rookie.
4th Round Greg Hardy is a bit of a disappointment (just one sack) but in the end he's not that bad at LE for a rookie that started 5 games. Can't say this year's rookie DEs have made a huge impact so far this season.
5th Round is the annual Saints steal of the draft (after Colston, Evans & Nicks a few years back): Rennie Curran "the midget OLB" (in the mold of Sam Mills) is right there with 1st Round pick Kindle as the best rookie OLB in the game and rank #4 overall in Tackles at LB.
Round 6th and 7th are still in the roster but have been playing mostly ST. |
